Description of Item: FOR A LIMITED TIME, YOU WILL RECEIVE A COMPLETE, PROFESSIONALLY ASSEMBLED CAPACITOR ASSEMBLY (AS SHOWN IN THE FIRST PHOTO BELOW). ALL THAT WILL BE LEFT FOR YOU TO DO IS A SIMPLE WIRE ATTACHMENT AND MECHANICALLY INSTALL IT USING THE NEW HARDWARE PROVIDED. We have transitioned to the round capacitor board style shown in the first picture instead of the rectangular ones shown in the later photos. Over time, we will update all photos.White Oak Audio offers the premier PL400 and PL700 Capacitor Upgrade Kits on the web. These are professional-class upgrade products, meticulously engineered to look and perform better than the original. NOT NOS CAPACITORS. THESE ARE BRAND NEW CAPACITORS CUSTOM MANUFACTURED TO OUR SPECIFICATIONS. Do you own a Phase Linear 400 Series 1 or Series 2 Amplifier (the one with the 2 big VU meters or LED Cylon meters)? It is a great amplifier but it has always been deficient in bulk storage capacitance in the power supply. Coupled with that, 40+ years has taken its toll on the performance quality of the original capacitors installed in your amp. You are not getting the bass punch that this amp is capable of and you are living with a noise floor that is far worse than it can be. Here is your opportunity to replace the original pair of 5900 uF 85V capacitors (some vintage PL400s may have differing values) with a high-quality, long-life 15,000 uF 100V replacement pair. DO NOT REPLACE THE ORIGINAL CAPS WITH 80V CAPACITORS! THE POWER RAILS IN THE PL400 TYPICALLY RUN 80-82VDC. Capacitors made new today do not have the extra margin that the original capacitors Phase Linear used and you could end up with a mess to clean up inside your amp if you use under rated capacitors. For reliability and long life, you should operate electrolytic capacitors at a maximum of 80% of the rated voltage. 80% of these premium 100V caps is 80V leaving you with plenty of margin. DON’T CHANCE YOUR COLLECTIBLE AMP with 80V caps!! This auction is for a brand new, fully assembled, bulk capacitor upgrade to replace the original worn out electrolytic power supply capacitor pair with brand new pair of modern high capacity electrolytics. Like all White Oak Audio Products, this kit is a direct drop in for the original. The results below speak for themselves.
