Philip Nesbitt (1905-1953) 20th Century San Francisco, California/Oregon illustrator best known for his paintings. He was a commissioned artist for Walt Disney Studios. Picture Store of Washington D.C., label verso–see photos Looks very good, in “as found” original condition, age tone, waves in paper, not examined out of the frame, frame has minor wear– please look at photos carefully. Glass may be removed or shipped with the artwork according to the buyer’s preferences Fantastic original watercolor painting by Philip Nesbitt depicting a scene of Haitian life. Nesbitt was best known for his watercolor figure paintings. This is a fine example of his work in very good condition for its age. My price of $299 is extremely reasonable and far below what one would be expected to pay for it in a gallery or at auction. If not sold they will go into my ebay store at a more realistic and higher buy-it-now price, or removed. Biography: Born in Oregon on Dec. 20, 1905. Early in his career Nesbitt worked in the Disney Studios in Los Angeles; however, by 1932 he was a resident of San Francisco. His marriage to Lady Mary Faith Montagu in 1938 ended in divorce in 1940. His last years were spent on the Monterey Peninsula as a resident of Pacific Grove. Nesbitt died at the Monterey County Hospital on June 9, 1953. Primarily a watercolorist, he derived his subject matter from Haiti (1929), Hawaii (1930), the Orient (1936), and northern California. 100% Guaranteed to be as described.
